CINNNAMON

Artists: Esther Tielemans & Sarah-Jane Hoffmann

Esther Tielemans (1976) investigates the essence of painting. She started off with landscapes and ended up creating large, abstract and painted installations. At the Amsterdam Art Fair her recent work is exhibited, which marks a return to the flat surface. Black, blue, yellow and red are dominant and each work is centred in a cut-out: a painting within a painting.

Sarah-Jane Hoffmann (1984) is interested in the relationship between human bodies and nature and how they are depicted. At the Amsterdam Art Fair her series to fit a prosthesis is shown. It refers to the way man is trying to control nature and the work suggests that coding or a linguistic system is involved.
