Artists: Celine van den Boorn & Ilona Plaum

Celine van den Boorn (1978) transforms existing images by painting over the existing human presence. This intervention is still visible: matte silhouettes of people are contrasted with the shiny background of the photo. Forcing back the presence of man in the landscape offers new images that suggest an ideal world.

llona Plaum (1970) investigates the experience of space and translates it into the flat image of photography. She creates a visual effect where the eye of the beholder alternates from distance to intimacy and black. The hand of the artist remains intentionally visible and Plaum creates an image that seems visually illusive.
