Artists: Erik de Bree & Rob Bouwman

In his series wallpaper paintings Erik de Bree (1977) is fascinated by uncontrollable shapes and coincidence. Various layers of wallpaper, of which some are subsequently torn away, are covering the surface. This process is repeated until a composition is there. In a way De Bree plays with control on the one hand and coincidence on the other.

Rob Bouwman (1981) suggests depth and stratification in colour with just one brushstroke. He intuitively investigates the behaviour of colour, paint and brush. Bouwman attempts a transformation between colours that is as varied as possible. He tries to capture the paradoxical nature of the concrete object and the illusion in one single look.
