Artists: Ossip & Michel Hoogervorst

Ossip (1952) is known for his assemblages of historic works or art or his figures in historical poses. These works’ fame is being questioned by his mostly comical and touching interventions. Accordingly, the works become universal and timeless and show us that loneliness and suffering have always existed.

Michel Hoogervorst (1961) mixes elements such as flower bulbs, interiors, bouquets, and observations during his walks with things he encounters in his workspace, in various combinations. His paintings and drawings mostly consist of various layers; the first layer often is an organic image or a spatial scene. The second layer has elements of colour, language or a graphic image in it. Hoogervorst is looking for a final image, with the best possible dialogue and some sort of tension. In his recent work he also adds physical layers, by placing a drawing on paper or aluminium on another drawing.
