Pieter Hugo’s (1976) series 1994 depicts a generation of kids, growing up in a post-revolutionary era. Nature is shown as an idyllic place on the one hand and as a place where horrible events occur on the other. The children seem conservative at times and living in an organized world, but sometimes they seem to have a savage quality.

In his series An Other Another Benny Merris (1978) investigates the relationship between the artist, gestures and nature. He explores the possibilities of the sensual and playful body in nature and abstract painting in the open air. At Amsterdam Art Fair Merris’ abstract paintings will also be exhibited.
